If a convincing product is ennobled with the icing on the cake after a short period of time, then you can raise your expectations a little higher. Of course, Triumph knows that too and comes up with the new one "Street Triple R" on, the broad chest swollen proudly.

The wild-bass grunt of this famous three-cylinder increases again, the next gear is pushed in, the shower is fully back to the stop. So it goes full throttle down the mountain. Just a moment, the violent wave in the surface is going under full steam, volley is taken. Now the new brake has to work and show what it can do. Because there in this legendary corner a legendary pub stands in the way, only the experts "The Creg" call. It goes exactly 90 degrees to the right; precisely: Creg-ny-Baa, Isle of Man, the TT course. Triumph won its first TT here. Exactly a century later, the British present the spicy version of the in the same place S.treet Triple – as an unmistakable hallmark it has two exclusive colors and a thick one "R." in the name of. The offshoot of that bare understatement bike that hit like hell a year ago, sold 1,100 times in Germany alone and shocked the competition.

The little sister of the massive Speed Triple was not perfect, although she had gotten a lot of the equally successful Daytona 675 on the way. First and foremost is the fantastic three-cylinder, which, in addition to the beguiling growl in the street triple set-up, also delivers rich pulling power and torque in almost all positions. Reason enough to adopt it unchanged in the R version. With the R, the engineers from Hinckley concentrated on the Achilles heel of the standard Streety, i.e. the chassis. For the undisputedly cheap 7840 euros, the Triumph for the naked Daytona without "R." calls, the customer gets a soft fork and a too soft shock absorber. Not bad for a leisurely ride and absolutely suitable for the frugal glider, but immediately overwhelmed when it is time to get down to business.

One fun package, please!

The icing on the cake: The R version of the Street Triple teaches the competition fear.

The new R offers something more suitable: At the front there is a fully adjustable fork with Daytona elements. It is a few millimeters longer in the Street Triple and the innards are not quite as unscrupulously sporty as in the Daytona, but what it delivers on the lap around the Isle of Man is not to be despised. Tight hairpin bends, wide curves, warped surfaces and wild strokes? Nothing is lost on the way from the front wheel via the wrist and shoulders deep into consciousness. The feedback? Cool! The fork responds sensitively and successfully defends itself against deep immersion during committed braking maneuvers. The shock absorber might like it similarly brash, but still offers sufficient protection for the corresponding body parts. Don’t wrap them in cotton wool like the standard part, but provide the necessary information about the hindquarters for the attack. The chassis looks very well balanced, giving the R-Streety a playful handling and real stability.

What dictates the Street Triple R feeling is, as paradoxical as it may sound, a relaxed aggressiveness. The motorcycle plows in such a way that it constantly warms your heart. This engine finally has the chassis it deserves in its naked bike design. Compared to the good stoppers of the standard version, the new brake is primarily a tad better controllable, and an adjustable brake lever enhances it. Even the somewhat uninspired chrome handlebar was swapped for an anodized version. The flyscreen and fairing keel shown here come from the extensive Triumph accessories list; If you still like the matt colors of anthracite and orange, you can look forward to an incredibly harmonious motorcycle that never has to attack, but always can. And you don’t need a TT course and this legendary island of men for that.
