Pure provocation

How can you make a brand known? Quite simply, you provoke. The Benelli TnT 1130 does this not only with its name, but also with its daring design.

When MOTORRAD published the first Benelli TnT spy photos a few weeks ago, the readers’ comments were clear. “What kind of abnormally designed machine is that? Something must have gone wrong! «The speculation boomed, reader Peter Franz even suspected that we had photographed a motorcycle that had been involved in an accident.
Not at all. This Benelli is absolutely serious. And calmly contemplate a well-made piece of motorcycle engineering. Aggressive-
Seeing handlebar fairing, slim tank-seat combination, motocross-like radiator fairing, silencer in the rear. Everything was designed in a very original way and in this form actually unprecedented. Brave, but if you don’t dare, you won’t win.
The basic features of the chassis and engine are already known. They come from the super sporty Tornado 900 Tre RS. So what remains is the three-cylinder in-line engine, derived from the superbike racing engine, and the frame, which consists of a composite of steel tubes with aluminum castings.
In order to achieve a Streetfighter-like performance, the triple was enlarged to 1130 cm3 displacement. That means: the stroke of the crankshaft alone grew by a full 12.8 millimeters. Correspondingly shorter connecting rods make it possible to use the same cylinders. The Benelli TnT 1130 is far from being a long-stroke engine. It is only less short-throw than the 900 tornado.
Where the cooler was still located on the sports machine is on the TnT
the muffler. The huge cooling air ducts that the Tornado carries would have looked a little strange on a naked bike. But before the
Cylinder bank was no space for a radiator, the two radiators were placed on the left and right of the cylinder head. A solution like the one Honda already offers
the VFR and the VTR used. So can
the engine installed far forward and more
Weight can be shifted to the front wheel. An aspect that should not be neglected with the targeted 135 PS and a whopping 118 Nm of the triplet.
The processing of the prototype shown so far can be described as loving. Pretty details such as the eccentrics on the rear wheel axle for adjusting the chain tension, the butted handlebars in Supermoto style and the taillights that are nicely integrated into the rear frame are impressive.
From May 2004 the Benelli TnT 1130 to be had in Germany. For 12,900 euros it is not a bargain, but something special.
