Ultralight and comfortable rain suit

The Held Rainblock is a light and small foldable rain suit that requires little space in your luggage and makes driving in the rain more comfortable and safer.

the hero Rainblock consists of a jacket and pants, which are sold separately. They are available in women’s and men’s sizes and in two colors: black and yellow-black. We opted for the lighter, yellow version. Because motorcyclists are extremely difficult to see in the rain and visibility can then be prioritized over style. And at this point, the Held Rainblock provides the first surprise, because it looks good and flatters the silhouette of drivers. You like to be clearly visible on the road – even if the color is reminiscent of bright warning vests.

Comfortably soft on the outside

The jacket and pants of this Held rain suit are made of 2.5-layer stretch material – the upper material is made of 100 percent polyester and the membrane coating is made of 100 percent thermoplastic polyurethane. The fabric feels pleasantly soft. Anyone who is used to a classically crackling rain cover should be surprised: both jacket and pants feel more like supple functional clothing on the outside.

The smooth texture of the material on the inside ensures that the jacket and trousers can be put on quickly and easily. Like other rain suits, the trousers are equipped with a generous zipper in the leg area, which closes with a Velcro fastener at the bottom. The cuffs on the jacket also close with a Velcro fastener and can be easily pulled over the gloves.

Rain suit doesn’t fluff up

And anyone who expects a rain suit to inflate like a braking parachute with the help of the airstream will be bitterly disappointed by the Held Rainblock. Because despite reliable moisture protection, we are dealing here with a breathable suit that does not puff up from the airstream. This not only has visual advantages, but can also provide more security. For example, because the view between the rearview mirror and the traffic behind is not blocked by a fluffy rain suit sleeve.

The Held Rainblock can insulate despite its breathability. Even without rain. In the early morning in the mountains, the tester felt a bit chilly in her leather suit. Since the rain suit was on board just in case, the rain jacket was quickly pulled over it and the journey continued comfortably warm because the wind was well blocked.

Both together weigh only 660 g

A conventional rain suit can weigh just under a kilo. Held Rainblock jacket and trousers together weigh just around 660 grams, can be quickly folded up and packed into the mesh bag supplied.

Rainblock jacket and pants for men and women

The jacket is equipped with two zipped outer pockets and one inner pocket that can be closed with Velcro. The jacket costs around 90 euros and is available in men’s sizes S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL as well as in women’s sizes DS, DM, DL, DXL, DXXL, D3XL. It is available in the colors black and white and black and neon yellow, both variants being provided with reflective strips. According to the manufacturer, it will be available again in a few days.

Fit

Our tester is 1.58 meters tall and weighs around 55 kilograms. Jacket and trousers fit her in women’s S, although the rain jacket was naturally a bit tighter over a lined textile jacket than over the leather suit.

+ reliably waterproof

+ easy

+ folds up small

+ comfortable, soft material

+ can be put on quickly and easily

+ dries quickly

+ flatters the figure

+ isolated

+ does not fluff up despite the wind

– not very cheap

Conclusion

Rain jackets and trousers for motorcyclists are also available for around 20 euros. A part à la Rainblock from Held costs around 90 euros. Why should I spend around 180 euros on something that I least want to wear? Quite simply: So that I don’t like to wear it anymore. Sure, the motorcycle tour is the most fun in sunshine and on dry roads. But sometimes there is no other way and it is an advantage if the rain suit does its part to make the journey as comfortable as possible.
