Recall for Ducati 1199 SL and 1299 Panigale SL / R

Possible oil leakage from the airbox

Ducati has to recall its V2 super sports bikes 1199 SL and 1299 SL / R to the workshops because of a possible problem with the crankcase ventilation.

D.he Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has identified a possible problem with the crankshaft housing ventilation in the course of internal quality controls on the Supersport models 1199 Panigale and 1299 Panigale in the Superleggera and R versions. Here, oil can be pressed into the airbox and exit again via the ventilation hose of the air filter box.

This recall affects the models 1199 SL (2014 model year), 1299 SL (2017 model year), 1299 Panigale R Finale Edition (2018 model year) and the 1299 Panigale R (2015-2017 model year). Ducati Germany was unable to provide information on the number of units. In the United States, 651 vehicles are affected by this recall.

All owners of affected machines are invited to the workshops. A blow-by valve is retrofitted there. Ducati estimates the duration of the workshop visit to be around 2.5 hours. The recall began in early October 2019. Accidents in connection with the possible oil leak are not known.
