Recall for the Yamaha XSR 700 type RM11 / RM12
Electrics can fail
Yamaha has started a recall campaign for the Yamaha XSR 700 type RM11 / RM12. The electrical system may fail due to a possible short circuit on the ignition lock wiring harness.
It is possible that the ignition lock wiring harness will chafe and blow the main fuse. This can cause the entire vehicle electrical system to fail. If the worst comes to the worst, Yamaha XSR 700 simply go out while driving and no longer be ready to drive.
This affects vehicles of the type RM11 / RM12 with the following vehicle number:
- VG5RM111000000101 to VG5RM111000007414
- VG5RM121000000101 to VG5RM121000000908
All owners of a Yamaha XSR 700 with the chassis numbers listed above are asked to contact an authorized Yamaha dealer as soon as possible to arrange a workshop appointment. The modification includes the assembly of a new and modified ignition lock wiring harness with a modified cable routing. Assembly is free of charge for the customer.
