Kawasaki is recalling around 3,300 Ninja H2 SX models in Europe. If the gears are not properly engaged, there is a risk of transmission damage.

As Kawasaki Germany reports on request, models of the recall type are of the type Ninja H2 SX, Ninja H2 SX SE and Ninja H2 SX SE + affected. The affected vehicles are from the construction period November 2017 to December 2019. In Europe, Kawasaki has to recall 3,280 motorcycles, of which around 540 are in Germany. In the US, 799 machines are affected by the recall.

Speed ​​difference can damage gears

If the gear does not engage properly during a shift, the engine management system cannot prevent the engine from revving up suddenly. If the gear pair still finds one another, the difference in speed can damage the gear wheels. As a result, the drive can block and there is a risk of falling. Gear changes in fourth and fifth gear are predominantly affected.

First problems with the transmission were from Kawasaki Europe already documented in May 2018. As a result, the incidents reported were thoroughly investigated. The decision to recall was made in October 2020.

Kawasaki wants to correct the problem with a new software for the engine control. All customers are written to and asked to go to the workshops with their bikes. The workshop stay is estimated at around 20 minutes. The recall campaign under the identifier DAJ43 will start in November 2020. Converted machines are marked with a white color marking on the bench holder under the bench.
