Recall Moto Guzzi and Aprilia
Problems with the front brake

The wrong hand brake pump on various Moto Guzzi and Aprilia models can lead to unwanted braking.

The built-in hand brake pumps obviously have too little free travel and can therefore lead to independent braking under certain circumstances at extremely high temperatures and with corresponding material expansion. In the worst case, the front wheel locks up and you could fall. In addition, the brake light is not activated, which also increases the risk for the traffic behind. A modified hand brake pump has been installed in production since April 2019.

The Piaggio Group confirms the recall with the following words: “The front brake pump could have a defect that can cause the front brake to build up pressure by itself while driving.”

In Germany, almost 3,100 motorcycles are affected, and around 14,000 vehicles worldwide. The owners of all affected machines are written to and asked to go to the workshops with their bikes. The hand brake pump is checked there and replaced if necessary. A workload of 20 minutes is planned for this. If the test shows that the brake pump needs to be replaced, the customer must expect another 30 minutes.
