In India it became the new one Himalayan presented, where “the new” sounds exaggerated, as it is more about a targeted model update for the model year 2021, which was necessary to adapt the Enduro to the current emissions regulations – for India as well as for Europe. The European models should roll out to dealers in the spring of 2021.

The 411 cm³ air-cooled single cylinder was taken over mechanically unchanged. For the Indian market, the manufacturer continues to specify 24.3 hp and a maximum torque of 32 Nm. For the European version with Euro 5 classification, the manufacturer states 24 hp and 32 Nm. This means that the ready-to-drive 199 kilogram Himalayan can reach speeds of up to 127 km / h.

No changes were made to the chassis with 200 mm travel at the front and 180 mm at the rear. The 21 and 17-inch wire-spoke wheels with size 90/90 tires at the front and 120/90 at the rear remain. The braking system with a 300 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear is also unchanged.

The Himalayan takes over the tripper system of the Meteor 350.

Let’s get to what has changed: The crash bars and the luggage rack have been slightly modified. The new windshield has a slightly different shape. The adapted bench should now offer more comfort. The most important innovation, however, is the standard turn-by-turn navigation, the Royal Enfield already with the new one Meteor 350 introduced. It sits in the cockpit, navigates with Google Maps and integrates smartphones via Bluetooth and a Royal Enfield app.

There are also three new colors. These include Granite Black, Mirage Silver, and Pine Green. Together with these new paintwork, the colors Gravel Gray, Lake Blue and Rock Red from the previous model have been adopted. The new Himalayan therefore drives up in a total of six colors.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan for the model year 2021 at prices equivalent to around 2,700 euros. In Germany, the single-color version starts at 4,790 euros, while the two-tone version of the Himalayan starts at 5,170 euros.
