BBB? Bread and Butter Bike! Which is not meant disparagingly in this special case. Quite the opposite: you have to build a motorcycle that always and everywhere and with every rider, whether a beginner or an old hand, and is fun at the same time. Honda achieved this with the PC 41, commonly known as Honda, which can be found in the program from 2011 to 2013 CBR 600 F ABS, very good.

In contrast to its predecessors, which have become more and more sporty over the years, the PC 41 relied almost exclusively on suitability for everyday use. A little more mass (mainly due to the standard ABS), a more moderate seating position, somewhat simpler suspension elements and a simpler frame made the main difference. And a favorable price, because with a permanent price of 8990 euros (plus 265 euros for ancillary costs), the Honda CBR 600 F cost almost 3000 euros less than its double R sister model.

Without problems in the MOTORRAD endurance test

This was made possible by a clever modular system, because the 600 Hornet, which was also manufactured in the Italian factory in Atessa, was hidden under the shell, which was quite neatly protected from wind and weather. A new Honda CBR 600 F was cheap, but not cheap, because in addition to the aforementioned ABS, there was a standard combination brake system in which stepping on the pedal actuates two of the six front brake pistons in addition to the rear brake – not just a good thing for newbies.

The MOTORRAD endurance test over a swiftly completed 50,000 kilometers then finally brought the Honda CBR 600 F the higher honors: no breakdown, no unscheduled visit to the workshop – simply nothing. Or maybe it was: The main stand – standard on all previous CBRs – was missing a bit.

Honda

The LCR edition, limited to 100 pieces, competes in 2012 in the colors of Stefan Bradl’s MotoGP team. Racing design, equipment extras and a Bradl autograph card are available for 9999 euros.

2014 Only remnants of the Honda CBR 600 F are sold. The successor is the CBR 650 F, which has an output of only 87 hp, but has a higher torque in the lower speed range.

Market situation and inspection

The number of copies of the Honda CBR 600 F for sale is quite clear, but large enough to find what you are looking for relatively quickly and to get the best offer from absolutely comparable offers – a clear buyer’s market. Half of the second-hand offers come from commercial and private providers, although in view of the construction time that was not very long ago it is noticeable that the majority of the machines are already in the second or even third hand. The majority of the range is between 5500 and 6000 euros, but there are certainly sweets with only four-digit mileage to get.

Over 6500 euros are only redeemed for machines that are virtually new – or for the LCR edition, which is only very, very seldom for sale. The conversion excesses, which are otherwise often found in sports circles, are the very big exception in the case of the Honda CBR 600 F. Most of the time, the Honda remains in its completely original condition. If anything, only mini turn signals, a dark windshield and a short license plate holder are installed. The CBR is welcome as a trade-in – dealers also value absolute reliability.

What to watch out for when visiting

First place in the all-time MOTORRAD long-term test list – still questions about reliability? Which is not to say that the purchase should go off without a viewing. A closer look at and behind the fairing of the Honda CBR 600 F is definitely worthwhile, because a not small number of the new machines ended up in the hands of beginners and / or women, which makes one or the other accidents with material-murderous consequences quite likely – sorry Ladies.

For the reasons mentioned, a closer look at the chain set of the Honda CBR 600 F is recommended, because the care mentality of some inexperienced Honda owners leaves something to be desired. And where you are already crouching: Are the original equipment tires (Bridgestone BT 012), which should be enjoyed with caution when wet, still fitted? If so, a decent discount is justified. Even more? Check the steering lock (hooked?), Otherwise the standard sightseeing program is sufficient.
