The key data: 2053 cubic centimeters, 103 hp and, more importantly, 177 Newton meters full of turning moments. In combination with a full tank of 375 kilograms, a 1735 millimeter wheelbase, a turning circle of 6.4 meters and a handlebar width of a good 100 centimeters, the giant truck quickly reaches its spatial limits outside of Texas. Likewise, the initial price of 17,195 euros stood in the way of its widespread use in narrow Germany. And despite all the creative force, the VN also masters curvy stretches with ease, assuming that the genre has the standard of handling and lean angle. The brake keeps the upper hand in the fight against kinetic energy, but challenges the whole guy. This, in turn, could see the engine as civilized, too soft because of the extra heavy crank drive, two balance shafts, long gear ratio and generous noise damping. But the UN goes, if it has to, a good 200 km / h, which the chassis puts away unmoved.

A look at the market situation box shows that the biggest problem with a VN purchase is being able to arrange a viewing at all. The offer is namely very manageable. Also very noticeable: like many other choppers or cruisers, a VN is apparently only started on selected occasions, because the average mileage is between 1000 and 2000 kilometers per year. At the time of the research, there was only one offer with five-digit mileage. At best, the rear tire should show signs of wear. If the search for hidden traces of a fall, fall or fall over (the steering head stops are a good indicator) is unsuccessful, you can devote yourself to the more likely existing damage to the vehicle (rust in the tank, deeply discharged battery, fixed brake calipers, stiff Bowden cables, leaky Simmerrings) . If everything is in order here, too, a test drive must be carried out to determine whether one can physically cope with the large and heavy VN. The extremely wide and distant handlebars in particular require a certain arm length if you don’t want to go around curves with one arm.

Market situation

Anyone who likes motorcycles that cannot be found on every street corner is with the VN 2000 well served. Less than 400 copies were loud Kawasaki officially sold in Germany. The two-colored VN, which was offered in 2006 and 2007, is particularly rare. Exactly 40 pieces found a lover. The UN is represented on the second-hand market in similar homeopathic doses. At the time of the Internet research, there were only ten real used vehicles on offer nationwide. The following applies to everyone: Anyone who is not prepared to invest a five-digit amount should say goodbye to the UN. In return, you usually get the best-maintained bikes with an odometer that is still in the four-digit range. VNs are usually sold in their original state due to a lack of accessories. Or, it couldn’t be more different than extreme conversion. These treasures, which are no longer really suitable for driving or are too good to be driven by, cost amounts that normal earners are more willing to invest in well-preserved mid-range sedans.
