Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) – known as the organizer of the Dakar as well as major cycling events – has that “New Energies”-Program launched with the aim of holding motor sport competitions with electric vehicles in the future.

150 kilometers range

The Italian motorcycle manufacturer Tacita has now presented its first rally motorcycle that meets the specifications of the “New Energies”-Program corresponds. Tacita promises a full 60 hp and 100 Nm of torque for the T-Race Rally 2021. Enough to accelerate the Enduro up to 170 km / h. The built-in 44 kWh battery should enable ranges of up to 150 kilometers. Despite the ample energy storage, the entire bike should only weigh 169 kilograms. The battery should be filled again in around three hours by means of quick charging. At a conventional socket about 5.5 hours are enough to get an 80 percent charge.

Rally costs a good 25,000 euros

The first prototype of the T-Race Rally was created in 2012 and has been continuously developed since then. At the front, the Tacita T-Race Rally relies on a 46 USD fork with 300 millimeters of travel. The rear central spring strut has a travel of 280 millimeters. There is a 90/90 tire on the 21-inch front wheel, while an 18-inch 140/80 tire is installed at the rear. The rally model costs around 25,000 euros.

The manufacturer intends to present more information soon.

Conclusion

With an electric motorcycle to the Dakar? This is still a long way off, because a range of 150 kilometers is far too little to cope with the daily stages. But at least the organizers have the topic of electric mobility on the list.
