For a long time it seemed to scooter fans to be an unrealizable dream: a comfortable, powerful Vespa. Because until 2003 there was only the twelve hp, decades old two-stroke PX 200.
Then the Vespa GT 125 and GT 200 with contemporary four-stroke engines, twelve-inch chassis, disc brakes on both wheels and generous space brought a decisive step forward. Only their four-valve engines, which required speed, did not match the character of a large Vespa, which the Italians onomatopoeically called “Vespone”.

Injection and G-Kat ensure compliance with Euro 3 and, even better, a spontaneous throttle response, which converts the perfectly coordinated variator into brilliant acceleration. This makes starting traffic lights really fun, especially since the engine seems completely effortless. The GTS manages 123 km / h, its thirst remains modest with 3.4 liters of super.
There is nothing wrong with lights and mirrors, ergonomics and brakes; Front-wheel ABS is even available for an extra charge. With its weight, its limited lean angle and somewhat sluggish handling, the GTS invites you to touring and cruising rather than hitting the hook between the lines of cars.
