The annual, national Swiss motorcycle fair Swiss-Moto, which is also popular with southern German motorcycle fans, will no longer take place in Zurich, but in Bern from 2022. Motorcycle fans also have to get used to a new name: Swiss-Moto is becoming the Moto-Festival – although this name has only been a working title so far. The starting signal for the next season will therefore take place annually in February / March in Bern from 2022. The organizers cite March 3 to 6, 2022 as the first trade fair date. Around 55,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors are expected.

Zurich criticized

The association of Swiss motorcycle and scooter importers Motosuisse has signed corresponding contracts with the trade fair organizer BernExpo Groupe. The name change of the fair became necessary because the brand Swiss-Moto belongs to the previous fair organizer Messe CH Group. From there comes criticism of the decision, in triad with the Eicma and the Intermot you feel let down by the industry, but are fierce about opening up Swiss-Moto as a platform for the Swiss motorcycle market.

More festival character

The change of location is only the first milestone for a new beginning. The fair is aimed at a wide audience, from young and new drivers to die-hard freaks and fans. In the future, the event should not only score points with the classic exhibition area for motorcycles and scooters, accessories and clothing, but also with a festival character and a broad supporting program including spectacles and demonstrations. This makes the event an attractive meeting point for younger target groups to discover new products and specialist knowledge. More attention should be paid to the demand for ecological technology and the trend towards electromobility.

The Bernexpo site is one of the largest exhibition grounds in Switzerland: eight exhibition halls in two building complexes combine around 40,000 square meters of event space and 100,000 square meters of outdoor space.
