Thor Sector: tried out an entry-level motocross helmet

Thor Sector
Tried a beginner’s motocross helmet

Extensive adventure gravel, enduring in Romania, supermoto training every Saturday – we have extensively tested the Thor Sector MX helmet in various disciplines, actually only the motocross slope is missing.

In the above-mentioned disciplines, the cheap Thor fully convince. The helmet is certified according to ECE standard R 22.05 and is pleasantly light, sits comfortably on test editor Dickkopf in size S and is therefore comparatively large. The sector is extremely well ventilated and the glasses fit perfectly. Thor does without an additional fixation of the glasses strap, we didn’t miss it.

Flawless workmanship and good fit

We particularly liked the not too narrow entry and the easily removable upholstery, which can be easily and precisely returned to the spot even after cleaning. The dust filter in the chin part is also easy to clean, and the workmanship is flawless. Double-D lock is a good standard, and the generously sized umbrella can be adjusted over a relatively wide range.

The only drawback: If you do not loosen the locking screw of the umbrella for adjustment, you run the risk of damaging the somewhat fragile umbrella guide – a more robust design would be desirable in order to rule out operating errors. The sector is available in numerous decors, we wore the relatively subtle “Shear Slate / Sky”.

Noticed positively: Inexpensive, light, good workmanship

Noticed negatively: Umbrella guidance somewhat fragile in practice

Sizes: XS to 2XL

Price: 110 euros

MOTORRAD verdict: 4.5 stars out of a possible 5

Conclusion

Although the Thor Sector is more in the low-budget range, the entry-level MX helmet was able to convince in the first test with its relatively low weight (1,315 grams, size M) and good workmanship. The guiding of the shield is somewhat fragile in practice.
