Accessory supplier Thyssenkrupp is serving a model in the cafe racer segment with braided carbon rims for the first time. The Kawasaki Z 900 RS is the fourth Kawasaki model that can be equipped with carbon wheels.

The braided carbon rims take care of the Kawasaki Z 900 RS for a stylish contrast to the retro look of the Japanese four-cylinder engine. In addition, they also score points in terms of driving dynamics thanks to their low weight.

The new Kawasaki equipment also ensures a premiere in the Thyssenkrupp portfolio. For the first time, a carbon wheel measuring 5.5 x 17 inches is available. This is complemented by the Z 900 with a front wheel measuring 3.5 x 17 inches. So far, only six-inch rear wheels have been available.

The carbon wheels fit in all of them Kawasaki Z 900 RS / Cafe models from year of construction 2018. Equipped with all the necessary bearings and valves, the wheel set costs 3,499 euros. The rear wheel alone costs 1,999 euros, the front wheel individually for 1,699 euros.

The weight is around 1.9 kilograms at the front and 2.9 kilograms at the rear. The carbon wheels come with a general operating permit (ABE). The delivery time is around eight to twelve weeks.

In addition to the Kawasaki Z 900 RS, the Kawasaki models ZX-10R, ZX-10RR and ZX-10R SE can also be equipped with carbon wheels from Thyssenkrupp.

Conclusion

Every buyer has to decide for himself whether the carbon wheels look a good match for the retro Kawasaki. It is clear that they bring noticeable advantages in terms of driving dynamics. However, the financial commitment for this is not insignificant.
