Spidi designed the Alpentrophy combination as an entry into the world of touring adventure clothing. The combination made of Cordura has sealed seams and is waterproof and windproof. For this functionality sets Spidi on the self-developed breathable H2OUT membrane. A removable inner lining provides warmth. With the lining, the Alpentrophy-Kombi is easy to wear from temperatures of twelve degrees, the additional insulation should only be dispensed with from around 25 degrees. In the temperature range in between, the feel-good climate can be easily regulated through the various ventilation openings on the arms, chest, back and thighs.

Good and bad detailed solutions

Features such as the collar with neoprene inserts and the push button that can be relocated with Velcro or the practical width adjustment with Velcro on the sleeves and waist ensure high wearing comfort. The width adjustment on the sleeve cuffs via press studs in addition to the zipper cannot keep up. Also, only gloves with extremely filigree cuffs can be tucked under the sleeves.

The long zippers on the back of the trouser legs make it easier to put on trousers and can also be easily closed over fat boots.

The long zippers on the back of the trouser legs are extremely practical. They make it easier to put on trousers and can be easily closed over fat boots. A width adjustment is only implemented here with a push button. At the federal level, the Italians are again relying on practical width adjustment using Velcro. Jacket and trousers are securely and comprehensively connected with a long zip. That cannot be said of the lining of the jacket. This is only fixed with press studs on the lapels and sleeves – the lower back area is unfixed, so the lining tends to slip when the jacket is put on.

Good equipment and good fit

Additional features include waterproof pockets on the inside and outside of the jacket, plus protectors in the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee areas (height-adjustable at the knees). A recommended back protector is only available at an additional cost, as is a chest protector (cost: around 50 euros each).

Overall, the ridden combination in size XL (driver: 1.90 meters, 90 kg) pleases with a good fit and flutter-free seat. The wide temperature range is also convincing: the combination has withstood light continuous rain without water ingress. The test period could not offer heavy rain.

The Alpentrophy combination is available in black / gray, black or black / neon yellow. The jacket costs 499.90 euros (sizes: M – 5XL), the matching Alpentrophy pants (only in black / gray and black, sizes M – 5 XL) cost 349.90 euros.

Conclusion

At a price of around 850 euros, the Alpentrophy textile suit from Spidi offers a successful entry-level package that can be used throughout the season. You can live with the minor weaknesses in detail.
