For the 2021 model year, Triumph is relying on Speed ​​twin on evolution. The concept of the naked two-cylinder with a retro look has remained, but has been refined in many areas.

More power for the twin

The update to Euro 5 was mandatory. With its new set-up, the 1200 twin is clearly one of the winners. The maximum power increases by three hp to a full 100, which is now only reached 500 tours later at 7,250 rpm. The maximum torque remains unchanged at 112 Nm – but is delivered 500 tours earlier at 4,250 rpm. Triumph emphasizes that in addition to the plus in peak performance, there is above all noticeably more pressure at medium speeds. A lighter crank mechanism also ensures more revving and a livelier response of the two-cylinder. In addition, new pistons with higher compression, revised channels and a new cam profile complete the list of engine modifications.

New fork, new brake and new wheels.

The British have heavily redesigned the chassis: the triple clamps now have a completely new 43 mm Marzocchi USD fork with cartridge damping instead of the conventional telescopic fork. Radially attached Brembo M50 calipers replace the previous axially bolted calipers and, together with 320 instead of 305 discs, ensure even more braking bite. The Speed ​​Twin redesigned cast rims, which, in addition to the new 12-spoke design, also bring less weight, make them easier to handle. The tires are fitted with ultra-sporty Metzeler M9 RR tires.

In addition to ABS and traction control that can be switched off, the electronics package still includes the three modes road, rain and sport – all of which have been re-tuned.

Appearance changes only slightly

In addition to its new rims, the new model year of the Speed ​​Twin is visually recognizable by the new, brushed and raised stainless steel double silencers, the new anodized headlight and fender brackets and the new tank graphics. Indicator, rear light and daytime running lights use LED technology. Triumph has also rearranged the color selection. The Speed ​​Twin is available in the colors Red Hopper, Matt Storm Gray with subtle yellow accents and in Jet Black.
