The bike currently being presented by BMW’s manufacturing partner TVS in India is still just a study, but the hybrid cruiser could go into series production in a few years.

In the Zeppelin, the prototype baptized is combined with a liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine producing 220 cm³ of 20 hp at 8,500 rpm. and 18.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. fetches, with a 1,200 watt electric motor. There is also an integrated starter generator. A 48-volt lithium-ion battery is responsible for supplying energy to the electric motor. All motors together do not result in a cracker drive, but should accelerate the TVS Zeppelin to over 130 km / h if necessary, with the electric motor temporarily increasing the torque by 20 percent, according to the manufacturer. It is shifted by a five-speed gearbox.

Hybrid cruiser could come in 2019

The 41-millimeter upside-down fork as the front wheel guidance seems to have been taken directly from the BMW G 310 R, which is manufactured by TVS. At the rear, the TVS Zeppelin relies on a central spring strut. The front and rear headlights use LED technology, and the rear wheel is belt-driven. ABS is on board. The vehicle is decelerated with single-disc brakes on both wheels, at the front with radially screwed pliers on a 300 disc, and a 240 disc in the rear.

In terms of design, the TVS Zeppelin is based on common power cruiser features: beefy stern, side-mounted license plate, fat seat bun, footpegs set far forward and a wide, flat dragbar. Other features include a built-in action cam and a smartphone integration into the fully digitized cockpit. The 168 kilogram cruiser stands on 110/70 R17 tires at the front and 150/70 R15 at the rear. The wheelbase is specified as 1,490 millimeters.

There are only rough guesses when it comes to the price. The TVS Zeppelin could cost anywhere between the equivalent of 2,000 and 4,000 euros if it were to hit the market in 2019.
