The golfing of the motorcycle

The CBF 600 is a big step on the way to the complete golfing of the motorcycle, because functionally there is hardly anything to complain about the Honda.

Stefan luck

There are enough reasons to be interested in a CBF 600. The cost price is cheap, the ABS ?? so available ?? works perfectly. The seat and handlebars are adjustable, and you can choose between the semi-clad and the naked version. The practical equipment includes a main stand (in conjunction with ABS), hazard warning lights and a stainless steel exhaust system, and thanks to its tight coordination, the chassis does not swivel the white flag until late, even when the vehicle is brisk. Seen in this light, the sales success of the mid-range all-rounder, which has continued since its appearance in 2004, is no wonder.

Objectively speaking, the only technically explainable shortcomings of the CBF are the poorly accessible choke, which is attached directly to the carburettor, and the too short rear-view mirror arms. Some complain about the lack of charisma of the Honda: Dutiful, honest, correct, without any underhandedness, but unfortunately also completely emotionless.

Anyway, the CBF is just not a motorcycle that you kneel in front of for two hours in the garage and just look. Nothing really can be criticized for the in-line four-cylinder that was taken from the 1995 CBR 600 F and throttled to 78 hp. Only the concept-related lack of torque of the engine, which is not compensated by the corresponding forward thrust in the upper speed range, tarnishes the overall positive picture. And so lively stirring in the precise and smooth-running six-speed gearbox is the order of the day for brisk locomotion.

Since the 2005 model year, Honda has had the Traveler model with suitcases and top cases in its range for an extra charge of 400 euros. The only model update to date was due in 2006, but was rather modest with clear glass indicators and longer mirror arms.

sightseeing

A neat and neat cockpit with the naked woman. The disguised one is much more sober.

The most important decisions have to be made before an inspection. Do you want cladding and / or ABS? Since the CBF was offered almost unchanged over the years except for the colors, the year of construction does not play a major role. Occasionally there were problems with rusting tanks, Honda exchanged the containers in the affected vehicles even after the guarantee on goodwill. Mechanically, the CBF is very robust, after all, the drive comes from the CBR 600 F, where it produces almost 30 hp more and rotates much higher. The inspection can therefore be limited to the condition of the wearing parts and hidden fall marks.

Market situation

Used advice Honda CBF 600

Over 90 percent of all German CBF 600 brakes with ABS, says Honda. The system works wonderfully.

Those interested in CBF have a good laugh, the range of used vehicles is huge. In this way, the desired object (with or without cladding or ABS) can even be found in the desired color without a long search. The asking price starts at 3500 euros. For less than 4000 euros you usually have to do without the ABS or accept longer journeys. The majority of the offers are between 4,000 and 5,000 euros, with mileage in the four-digit range not uncommon. The new fairing, which costs 300 euros, is hardly reflected in the price, rather the ABS, for which you had to spend 600 euros more. Fully equipped demonstrators are available for around 6,000 euros.
