The Swiss custom designer GS Mashin tied a Yamaha XV 950 as part of the Yamaha Yard Built Project. That turned into something …, yes, something ultra-mediocre – probably hence the name.
GS Mashin was founded three years ago by Tom Mosimann, crew member of The Niners (facebook.com/TheNinersCH). The Yard Built XV 950 Ultra was created in his small workshop in Bern. And all in the yard-built manner without cutting or welding work. Whether you like it or not – the Ultra is impressive. And most importantly: it is mobile.
The cladding of the Yard Built XV 950 Ultra is made of 1.5 millimeter thick steel and is handmade. This is also the case with the tank, with the upper edge made with a press brake and the lower part based on the original XV 950 tank. The indicators (Highsider) sit in the unusually shaped fairing and the headlights (Bates) had to be behind black bars. The rear suspension struts from K-Tech, which are based on the K-Tech Bullit dampers, look very tidy.
Yard Built XV 950 Ultra with ABS
Like the front, the rear is also handcrafted. The rear light unit comes from Shin Yo and the leather seat, which is also handmade, is from Jose Rey Saddlery. The aluminum fork bridge from Asic Robotics has its very own look due to the lack of riser pipe holes.
The original hubs were used for the wheels of the Yard Built XV950 Ultra, paired with an 18-inch rim at the rear and a 21-inch rim at the front with new spokes. ABS is also on board.
