New off-road bike for the 2020 model year

Yamaha has introduced the new Yamaha YZ 450 F for the 2020 model year. The motocross bike can look forward to numerous updates.

Less weight, more power and better handling: Yamaha has the motocross model YZ 450 F donated some updates for the 2020 model year. Compared to its predecessor, the new 450 series engine is significantly more compact and therefore lighter. The cylinder head on the 2020 model is also new and now tilted backwards. The revised configuration ensures an optimized position of the center of gravity, which should have a positive effect on drivability.

Integrated connectivity in connection with smartphone app

The so-called Yamaha GYTR Power Tuner system was already used in the previous model, with which the YZ 450 can be configured via smartphone. With the help of a smartphone app, which is available for iOS and Android devices, changes to the fuel / air mixture or the ignition timing can be made, for example. The configuration can thus be adapted for various routes without great effort.

The Yamaha YZ 450 F is being thoroughly revised for the 2020 model year.

In addition, the app can be used to log race progress, display maintenance and system diagnostics and check the engine running time. With the help of a switch on the handlebar, the previously created mapping can also be selected. An electric starter should save precious seconds in the races. The fuel injection system, the clutch, the aluminum frame, the rear brake disc and the radiator have also been redesigned. A fully adjustable KYB telescopic fork is also included. The footrests on the 2020 model are slightly wider and also lighter. Overall, the 450 has become a bit narrower. Attentive readers are likely to wonder how high the performance increase in the new model actually is. Unfortunately, Yamaha did not provide any information on this in the official press release. The Japanese have not commented on the exact weight either.
