Further technical data and delivery

+++ Update: Further performance data of the engine and approximate delivery date of the new Yamaha YZF-R6 announced.+++

Update from March 24th, 2017: The presentation of the new Yamaha YZF-R6 in autumn 2016 caused quite a stir. At first, Yamaha did not reveal too much about the technical data.

This has now changed; The performance data of the new engine should be particularly interesting. The new engine will produce 87.1 kW (118 hp) at 14,500 rpm and have a torque of 61.7 at 10,500 rpm.

The importer has also announced when the new Yamaha YZF-R6 will be available. Delivery of the first copies is scheduled to begin in mid-May 2017

The price for the new Yamaha YZF-R6: 13,995 euros (plus additional costs).

A current driving report of the new Yamaha YZF-R6 will appear on March 31 in MOTORRAD 8/2017

Original message from October 13, 2016

Anyone who is up to date with the latest sports motorcycles will immediately recognize the relationship to the YZF-R1 in the new Yamaha YZF-R6 – for example, the central air intake and the deep-seated LED double headlights. Slim cladding, position lights, ventilation slots, rear section, indicators integrated into the mirrors – these elements are also reminiscent of the big sister.

For everyone who wants to check their money box right away: There is still time to save until April 2017 if you want to be one of the first. However, Yamaha has not yet revealed what amount is involved. The new Yamaha YZF-R6 will be available in Race Blu and Tech Black.

Yamaha YZF-R6 fit for Euro 4

How much the new traction control intervenes can be controlled via a switch around the handlebars: the pilot has six control levels, but they can also be deactivated. The new Yamaha YZF-R6 also has a quickshifter on board, which will ensure quick gear changes. It should work in a similar way to the R1 and immediately interrupt the tractive force when shifting up, according to the manufacturer.

The cockpit clears up with an analog tachometer, digital speedometer and a display. Thanks to the new fairing and windshield, the new Yamaha YZF-R6 should be even fitter in terms of aerodynamics – eight percent better than its predecessor, according to Yamaha.

The new KYB upside-down telescopic fork of the 2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 was taken over from the YZF-R1 and is adjustable just like the KYB central spring strut. Also from the R1: 320 mm double disc brake with radially mounted 4-piston aluminum brake calipers.

The seat and rear frame have been developed completely new for the Yamaha YZF-R6. The latter is made of CF magnesium die-cast and is 20 millimeters narrower in the front area. The seat height remains at 850 millimeters. The 17 liter aluminum tank is also new. It should bring a weight saving of 1.2 kilograms compared to a steel tank.

Of course, the new Yamaha YZF-R6 comes with ABS as standard and is Euro 4 compliant.
