For its 15th birthday, Zero is bringing out a limited special model with the DSR National Forest Foundation that differs in color from the brown and gold basic model.

Celebrate in 2021 zero its 15th anniversary. And on April 22nd, the currently largest electric motorcycle manufacturer announced that there will be a special edition of the Zero DSR in a limited edition. But only in the USA.

$ 500 donation per bike

The start date for the special models is no coincidence. April 22nd is every year “Earth Day”, which is about appreciation for our natural environment. To mark the occasion, Zero donates $ 500 for every special DSR model sold to the National Forest Foundation – an American non-profit organization founded by Congress in 1992 to protect and reforest 193 million hectares of public forests takes care.

It is not known how many special models there will be, only that they will come in five colors – green, orange, white, gray and black. They are powered by the Z-Force 14.4 engine, which allows a top speed of 163 km / h. Zero specifies a maximum torque of 146 Nm while the range should be around 262 kilometers.

For roads and gravel roads

Off-road tires and sufficient suspension travel predestine the Zero DSR for gravel roads and dirt roads. At a quick-charging station, the battery is fully charged again within one to two hours, at a normal socket it hangs all night.

In the USA, the DSR special model for Earth Day has been available since April 22, 2021 and costs exactly as much as the basic model: USD 15,495. This DSR special model is not available in Germany, but in this country we have the option of the DSR in the Black Forest Edition. This then comes as standard with the larger battery, which provides a range of 253 kilometers. Price for the Black Forest Edition: from 20,880 euros. Basic DSR: from 17,690 euros.

A2-compatible despite 69 HP peak performance

In spite of the 69 HP peak performance, no throttling of the Zero DSR is necessary for the A2 driving license. For electric motorcycles, the rule applies that the continuous power is taken as the limit value. And the continuous output of the DSR is 22 kW, i.e. 30 PS.

Conclusion

The American manufacturer is only offering the Earth Day campaign in its home country. We have the Black Forest Edition for this, which is more expensive than the basic model, but also comes with an extra feature and, above all, a larger battery.
