China triple makes over 100 hp
The Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Zontes has announced in a video a new 800 cc three-cylinder that is supposed to push over 100 hp.

So far, the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Zontes has mainly operated in the 125 cm³ and 310 cm³ displacement segments. The customers were served here with single cylinders. Now the Chinese are about to jump into higher-class segments.
With a video, Zontes announced a three-cylinder engine, which rumored to have a displacement of 800 cc and an output of over 100 hp. The liquid-cooled triple comes with four-valve technology and an obviously 120-degree crank pin offset. With a rumored compression of 13.5: 1, it would be on the level of the 800 MV three-cylinder – which at least pushes almost 150 hp.

Zontes had already sketched a three-cylinder naked bike in 2020.
Zontes had already published a design sketch of a three-cylinder naked bike last year. Together with the now announced engine, this could quickly become a real competitor for models such as the Yamaha MT-09, the Triumph mid-range three-cylinder or the 800 MV Agusta model range – at a presumably significantly lower price. But it shouldn’t stop with a three-cylinder model. An enduro or even an athlete are also conceivable.

A modern three-cylinder with 800 cc and well over 100 hp – that’s exactly what the Chinese manufacturer Zontes is now announcing. A naked bike, an enduro and an athlete could be created around it. Europeans, dress warmly.
