Bimota DB8 1198 SP 2012

Menus

The DB8 SP is a more luxurious version of the Rimini hypersport. With its 1198 cc twin, its DB7 colors, the return of trim parts and carbon freestanding saddle, the sportiest Bimota synthesizes the best of the DB7 and the DB8. The twin cylinder from Bologna delivers the same power as the Ducati 1198, i.e. 170 horsepower. A distinctive small Walbro injection changes the way it throbs somewhat, while Zard has developed it into a specific titanium escapement. More than the engine, it is the Bimota chassis and the selection of high quality parts that hold our attention..

The frame, like the swingarm, bears the house signature: a superb set of tubular structures connected by perforated aluminum plates cut in the mass. Initiated on the DB5 in 2005, this chassis is still amazing and unique. No Ohlins features on this SP (considering the price, we would have appreciated the presence) but a 43mm Marzocchi inverted fork and Extreme Tech shock absorber.

Being one of the most expensive sports cars on the market, this DB8 SP multiplies the effective elements (Brembo radial monobloc braking, OZ Racing forged aluminum rims) and luxurious (carbon parts, cut aluminum). More than a circuit machine, the Bimota 1198 DB8 SP is one of those machines that we dream of owning more than driving.
