The mid-cylinder multitasking trail in Munich is getting a wash for 2016. BMW seems to feel that it does not need any in-depth technical changes for the moment; competition is however active in this niche. So the F 700 GS makes cosmetic advances. Mainly on the side of the tank, which is adorned with a metallic coating. A bit flashy, as was the case for the shoulders of the R 1200 GS in 2008. The trim of the upper part of the tank is redesigned.
The two-tone saddles are now available in five different heights: four saddle variants in the program and the optional lowering of the chassis. The choice of seat height is therefore from 765 mm to 860 mm. The Sport color (white with red frame) benefits from a pair of corn guards as standard.
Just a “brilliantine” operation for a model that we notice above all for its urban trail skills. Born in 650 and raised to 700, the BM is in fact playing on the numbers, because its twin cube is actually 798 cm3. No change in displacement between the old and the new generation, nor with the F 800 GS, but a revised mapping to offer 75 horsepower at 7300 rpm. The 800 GS reserves a good dose of fishing in addition with 85 donkeys, just to mark its difference.
To conclude this series of figures, the F 700 GS is available for the European A2 license: the engine can be limited to 48 horsepower..
With its spoked wheels, smaller front rim and reduced suspension travel, the F 700 GS is clearly less all-road oriented than its 800 sister. Its domain is more asphalt, city, and ease of use. trail to get rid of everyday life. The 2013 evolution brought a big plus in terms of safety. A second front disc and a disconnectable dual-channel ABS (standard) came to reinforce the braking. Then, by tapping into the list of options, this GS can turn into a bionic machine. Depending on your desires and your wallet, you can add ADC tire pressure control, in-house ASC traction control, and automatic ESA suspension adjustment – electronic refinements reserved until recently for large machines such as the R 1200 GS.
