BMW R 1100 RS 1995

Menus

It may not be the most beautiful of BMWs, but the R 1100 RS was the first to accommodate the Bavarian manufacturer’s new modern twin. It is still a flat twin (like all BM flats for generations), now equipped to face the 21st century. Injection, air / oil cooling, 4 valves per cylinder, more character than 4 legs and a more homogeneous power curve.

The part-cycle grafted around the twin is both original and very successful. The fork is here an exclusive BMW model, the Telelever, the damping being anchored on an arm connected to the traditional fork tubes. The rear is held by a single-sided gimbal transmission, the Paralever. With this chassis, the RS enjoys good road handling. It will still be better to avoid roads with dubious surface, possible sources of barbaits. Pleasant to drive, well equipped, with multiple saddle and handlebar settings, the Munichoise is attacking for long journeys. The protection would benefit from being more enveloping but the bike should not start cannibalizing the 1100 RT.
