BMW R 1200 C 2001

Even in custom, a BM remains a BM. In addition to having established a factory in the States to manufacture its X5s, the Bavarian brand wants to conquer American bikers. To do this, nothing better than a good big custom … With the class and technicality of Munich. Above all, we have to recognize what is: the design department has created a superb motorcycle. More in the cruiser spirit, the C adopts a large twin-cylinder of almost 1200 cm3 (it is customary in the genre). The increase in displacement did not benefit the power – far from it – but rather to make the twin more present in the mid-range.

From idle to the red zone, it’s successful; by somewhat ignoring the smoothness. If the power is delivered without brutality, the injection-transmission duo is noticeably capricious at low speed. Where the R 1200 C makes up for it is by pampering the driver. Superbly installed, it can enjoy serene handling and an impeccable finish with complete peace of mind. As always with BM, the braking is impeccable. Minus the rear suspension, which is too firm in damping. The rear seat embryo, failing to properly fulfill its function, can rise to wedge the pilot’s kidneys. But if you want a real duo, you will have to take the passenger seat option. Note also that this splendid cruiser is also available in twin 850 cm3.
