Who remembers the distant grandmother of the 1200 GS? To do this, you have to bring out the time machine and travel through the spirals of history. 2009…. 2000…. 1990…. 1980 – Tac, here we are. The Paris-Dakar is in everyone’s mind (born 2 years ago), we see mono trails everywhere, especially Japanese. BMW then designed the R 80 G / S, the first big road trail, surpassing the competition in power and size (- you can find all the information on the R 80 G / S with the motorcycle file created by Tanthallas ->). The GS family has just been born, and today BMW has reached 500,000 units produced.
To celebrate half a million copies, the propeller firm is hijacking a special edition R 1200 GS. Having opted for the color white, this series plays in the discreet and is equipped with a few elements: spoked rims painted in black, a two-tone saddle, a smoked windshield, aluminum cylinder head covers, an extension from the upper front fender, and a small spoiler on the oil cooler; all this for a little over 300 euros approximately.
Sober, shy limit, the decoration of this 1200 GS Special Edition would perhaps have deserved something more evocative, like the blue-white dress of the model R 1150 GS ADVENTURE “Edition 25 ans GS” appeared in 2005.
