2010 Buell 1125 CR

A street fighter with a lot of horses in Buell sauce is bound to be a disturbing device, which slams you in the muzzle. And when it comes out 146 horsepower for the weight of a sportswoman, you just have one desire: to unsolder asphalt.

The XB series had already given a good overview of the talents and ingenuity of the small American manufacturer. The chassis of a strong identity, the hyper compact size of its machines, the mouth really unlike any other XB-S roadster … It causes, but that’s not enough for Erik Buell. After installing super-taped Harley engines with 40% more horsepower, Buell made it simpler: he simply turned his hypersport into a street-fighter. A big gniak roadster with everything you need to disturb the neighborhood. Mixing the 1125 R with Erik’s vision of a modern cafe-racer today results in the 1125 CR.

At first glance, the work of the design and technical workshops would have been satisfied with only changing the fork crown. A little “only” which is enough to transfigure the Buell. This mini face (with the false air of Suzuki B-King) makes the shoulders stand out enormously while giving it an even more aggressive appearance. Buell reconsiders the slapping machine; a series for the competitors, another for those who dare to vigorously turn the throttle.
With his Buell 1125 CRA very young and fiery 146 hp engine, the CR is at the top of the street-fighters’ basket. The Helicon engine developed by Rotax for the sporty 1125 R only receives a shortened final transmission ratio as a modification, just to tear your arms out even more..

To hold the inverted 47mm fork, the straps have given way to a higher handlebar, and between your daring arms, the chassis doesn’t fear much … So you can open if you’re brave and experienced. With its short wheelbase, its contained weight of 170 kg (the same as on the 1125 R) and its low column angle, the Buell will react in the blink of an eye, with that character that Erik likes to imbue his machines. The perimeter frame containing the gasoline, the swingarm, the enormous 375 mm disc bitten by an 8 piston caliper – these are the same elements as on the sports car. We can therefore be confident about the benefits of the beast.

A bit of technique and optimization –Feedback on the HELICON engine – 146 horsepower

A new very modern, compact, closed twin cylinder with an angle of 72 °, equipped with injection, super-square dimensions of 103 x 67.5 mm, liquid cooling, 4 valves per cylinder, 3 shaft ‘balancing, double ACT, dry sump lubrication, 61mm double inverted throttle bodies … Perfect equipment for a latest generation hypersport bag. An Austrian engine, developed by very precise specifications from Erik’s staff. A twin ROTAX, the famous engine manufacturer who manufactures, among other things, the Aprilia RSV 1000 bi. A pledge of seriousness and power. And for those who are still in shock, here is something to do you good: the water heater spits 146 nags and moreHelicon 1125 R motore 11 mkg of torque.
Around this big twin, elements further optimize the mechanics. The pressurized air box (12 l) allows 5% more performance. The radiators are placed laterally, behind the sides of the fairings … or rather, in the enormous vacuum scoops. Their position is calculated to optimize the centering of the masses and the center of gravity. Moreover, the arrangement of each element on the 1125 R / CR has been designed with this in mind. This is particularly the case of the exhaust system, placed as always under the saddle; Buell’s side says that “the muffler is tuned to deliver linear power and torque curve while removing the cost, weight and complexity of an active exhaust system. A Helmholtz chamber located in the muffler further reduces noise. “. In short, no EXUP, a somewhat smooth behavior for more efficiency, and gas half stifled by anti-noise standards. So, by putting a good adaptable pot, it should deposit harsh, like the baton of your neighbor when you start. The police will eventually calm you down, except on the track (and again, not all).

With this 1125 CR, Buell wanted to design his street-fighter, or HIS vision of a street-fighter. Surely something powerful, a little crazy and intimidating, for big arms certainly and those who want to ride different. A kind of mix of American rodeo and European big stuff. Moreover, Buell announces his latest addition “With its ruthless attitude and its perfect figure, the 1125CR is a road bike designed for the descendants of the Cafe Racer generation” almost like a cover of the Joe Bar Team.

Barely a year and the 1125 CR is already optimized. For 2010, a few changes are in the works: a new aluminum gudion, new front brake piston seals, new water pump and rear wheel axle bearings. And a small increase in the price, the roadster now exceeding 12,000 euros.
