Rupert Stadler: bought by Audi, Ducati remains Ducati !

Ducati is officially part of the Audi family but the German leaders, aware of the impact of this news on the tifosis, want to be reassuring: Ducati remains Ducati and the Italian leaders are renewed in their functions.

With the final approval of the competition authorities, the last obstacle to the takeover of Ducati by Audi via its Italian brand Lamborghini (read) fell last week. This news was announced by the head of Audi himself to the 1000 Ducati employees gathered on the occasion of his visit to the Borgo Panigale factory..

"You’ve probably already wondered why we care about Ducati", Rupert Stadler remarked in the introduction:"a car manufacturer, apparently unrelated to Ducati, at first glance"…

"But this is only at first glance. Ducati is synonymous with extraordinary artistic genius, passion, precision, performance and joie de vivre", rebounded immediately – and finely – the businessman:"we are impressed by these achievements".

The big boss from Ingolstadt (where Audi’s headquarters are located, north of Munich) then reminded his new Italian colleagues "the many possibilities of collaboration in terms of high performance engine, manufacture of light frames and interaction between these two strong brands at global level".

Herr Stadler even insisted that Audi and Ducati each had a "turbulent history made up of ups and downs (and both of them) can now benefit from being part of one big family, the Volkswagen Group".

"This brings me to an important message that I would like to leave with you today", concluded the CEO,"a message which is certainly the most important in your minds. Ladies and Gentlemen, this message consists of three words and you have my guarantee: Ducati remains Ducati".

Even today, the German leaders kept their word by re-appointing Gabriele Del Torchio in his function of CEO of Ducati Motor Holding. The board of directors welcomes again Claudio Domenicali accompanied by two newcomers: Horst Glaser and Axel Strotbek (Audi).
