Cancellation of the last part of the stage

Faced with the number of runners in difficulty, especially in the impressive dunes of Fiambala, the race management decided to stop the day at the second checkpoint (CP2), located after the 4th waypoint out of the 5 planned. originally.

At this point, Price was well ahead of the former leader of the motorcycle category, Paulo Gonçalves, who painfully rallies the CP2 due to a technical problem: a branch has punctured the radiator on his Honda, irreparably damaging this essential component in the cooling of the 450cc single cylinder. 

"Paulo tried to get to CP2 like that, but I think his engine burned out", even considers the Frenchman Antoine Meo, 6th in the stage and 5th in the provisional for his first participation in the Dakar..
