Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Touring 2013

In a discreet or spectacular way, the Multistrada evolves to present this 4th version (From memory: 2003: 1000 MTS; 2007: 1100 MTS; 2010: 1200 MTS; 2013: 1200 MTS “2”). For this second opus of the second generation, Ducati has made many changes: 150 hp Testastretta engine overhauled for more torque and flexibility, new 3-level ABS, very slight facelift, new LED lights, more windshield. protective, new Panigale type rims… and the most spectacular: the S version offers a profound modification of its suspensions.

For ages, the S models from Bologna have been equipped with Ohlins. In 2013, the Multistrada S Touring changed the game and abandoned Swedish suspensions in favor of the all new Skyhook system..
Kesako? To put it simply: a Sachs fork and shock absorber with semi-active electronic management. To make it more complicated: the Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) is a big gas plant to adapt the damping in real time. We start by installing a series of sensors on the grinding wheel:
Vertical accelerometers are placed on the lower triple tree and on the rear frame to provide so-called “hanging” data. Another series of sensors, fixed near the wheels on the fork and the swingarm, transmit information called “unsprung”. To complete this information on the movements of the machine, the DSS also analyzes the data of the longitudinal accelerometers of the traction control and those of the pressure sensors of the ABS..
Headache ? This is not the case with the Skyhook: it synthesizes all this data and then reacts by immediately adapting the compression or rebound damping. The real-time adjustment takes into account the Riding Mode used. Each of them can be supplemented by a “pilot only”, “pilot with luggage”, “pilot and passenger”, or “pilot and passenger with luggage” selection. With all this, the bike provides you with custom damping assisted by self-adaptation according to the profile of the road and driving..

Without detour and with more conviction, the Multistrada S Touring gives itself more means to reinforce its efficiency and its versatility. On the comfort side, we find an endowment to match: heated handles, 58 liters of capacity in the suitcases, two 12V sockets, central stand, two glove boxes, hands-free start, etc … The MTS 1200 2013 benefits to inaugurate a new mixed tire, the Pirelli Scorpion Trail, with a dual compound component.

Equipped with a veritable technological arsenal and formidable firepower, the Multistrada 1200 in this S Touring version asserts itself as the benchmark for the sporting trail traveler. The price will be in line with the requirement of the realization. And for those aiming for increased travel capabilities, Ducati offers a more upscale version: the Granturismo.
