Long-term test: Furygan TD 02 Mesh Evo gloves

Menus

6 years of summer testing, tens of thousands of kilometers traveled

From Dakar to the top of the Himalayas, from the ring road to the Bardenas, from Romania to Quebec

Let’s be clear from the outset: these Furygan TD 02 gloves are no longer in the catalog. The French manufacturer now has an equivalent product in the catalog, the TD12, mainly in polyester (the TD21 is similar, but in perforated goat leather). In any case, it is a light and perforated summer glove.

Why this test, then? It’s very simple: to carry out a long-term test, you must, as Didier Barbelivien put it so well, "give time to time". And time, we took it for him to stick a maximum of kilometers.

6 years of intensive use !

Difficult to be extremely precise, but this pair of gloves has been used daily for 6 years (say from April to October), for trips in Paris and its surroundings. From Paris, she was taken to Romania to the border with Ukraine, was in Dakar, then as far as Porto, three times in the Bardenas desert, once in Morocco to the edge of the Sahara. They toured the Gaspe in Quebec and even went on the highest road in the world in the heart of the Himalayas. Did you say an intensive test? In any case, in all these regions, they were appreciated by their lightness, their flexibility, their comfort of use as well as by the contribution of the mesh on the top of the hand and their contribution to a good ventilation of the pilot. In short, a glove that is comfortable to wear.

The gloves have been used daily for 6 years, results?

One could therefore imagine that after such treatment, these gloves would be reduced to a pair of dying rags. Well no ! The only trace of time consists of small tears on the side or on the tips of two fingers, while the white Furygan inscription on the index has largely disappeared..

Only a few small tears appeared on the side and at the end of 2 fingers

The rest, the rain, the wind, the kilometers, the years, nothing has affected this pair of gloves that I still wear at the moment. The leather inserts are still in place and the scratch closure still scratches as on the first day.

The closure still scratches like the first day

Strong and pleasant

As for the approval, it proved to be above all criticism during this long period of use. The protective shells at the trapezoids fall well into place and never prove to be a nuisance, while the airy material is generally forgotten. And this is ultimately what we ask of this safety accessory, which is now mandatory.

In the event of rain, on the other hand, they have no waterproofing capacity; but as they are not doubled, they withdraw and put back easily (those which already lived the loneliness vis-a-vis with wet gloves which "pull cork" at a toll or during a stop will understand me) in place. And in addition, they dry quickly.

Time has not taken too much damage on the TD02s

And its resistance to the fall? Are the protection and reinforcement sites located on the exposed areas (pasterns, palms, side of the hand) effective? Impossible to say, I did not fall. sorry.

The protective shells fall perfectly on the joints

Its equivalent today, the TD12, is displayed at 55 € in the Furygan catalog.
