Test on the Transitalia Marathon
Tucano Urbano, like the Biker Den, has been around for 20 years. Specializing in motorcycle clothing, the equipment manufacturer was confined to a rather urban universe, as its name suggests. To find under the cobblestones, the beach, the dunes or the steppes, the Italian brand launched a new tour brand "adventouring" a year ago.. Its name: T.UR or ToUR. Designed in-house, the logo includes the o in its name, suggestively….). Jackets, pants, but also gloves and bags are available under this new name with J-One and J-TWo equipment in 2018, which will be followed at the end of 2019 by new models further expanding the range. The two jackets J-One (also available in a limited Transitalia Marathon version) and J-Two, pair with the P-One pants. This is the number one set that we are testing. Tucano Urbano has also accustomed us to technical innovations or practical details that set the product apart from competing products. Does T.UR benefit from these innovations ?
To the specifications of our Italian combo, to face the heat, the wind, the cold and the rain in the long course. A contrasting bet for a truly innovative ensemble. Held? Test over several months on the occasion of our various tests of big trails but also on the occasion of the Transitalia Marathon, one of the biggest enduro events in Italy, in which we were involved: an event worthy of equipment.
Testing of the T.UR J-One and P-one set
Discovery
T.UR offers a multi-season set made up of water-repellent main elements, jacket and pants, combined with thermal linings and rain protection for waterproofing.
T.UR J-One jacket
Italian equipment must, in addition to being effective, offer a character design and an irreproachable cut. Both the P-One pants and the J-One jacket provide this point without difficulty..
Original and aesthetic, the style of the jacket in particular is reminiscent of the 70s and 80s with its red stripes on the right shoulder. Elegant, it combines textile with supple leather covering the collar and top of the garment and reinforcing the underside of the forearms and their ends. For more comfort and flexibility, bust, back and inside of the sleeves are in water-repellent Micro-Cordura fabric. A more resistant version in Oxford 600 reinforces the exterior, more exposed, of the arms. Reflective patches improve your passive safety. We also note the edge and the inside of the neck in supple and soft neoprene, an important guarantee of comfort. At this level we immediately appreciate the "micrometric" adjustment of the collar tab and its opposite side hook. The P-one is not to be outdone, with its Micro-Cordura fabric and its stretchable rib reinforcements at the knees.
Adjusting the collar of the T.UR J-One jacket
Ergonomic, here is another quality of the T.UR. Its multiple settings allow you to best adjust the set to your morphology and / or your current needs. Arms and forearms have a compression strap, at the waist the ease is modulated in the same way. Lower down, two zips allow the side pockets to be separated, optimizing comfort when in the saddle. Equally practical, the pants can be adjusted at the hips, the lower legs combine zippers and velcro to better follow the style of your boots. Higher, the massive main closure typed all-terrain heals the style.
Clamping system on the arms
And the whole does not lack air, far from it. the J-One offers two (narrow), but long front openings with nets. The back has the same type of ventilation, but thanks to a third zipper, the central panel can be completely eclipsed for maximum ventilation. The arms are fitted with two air intakes and the forearms with zip running from the elbow to the wrist. These have a velcro tightening, but also a tab with press stud to hold the two parts when the zip is open. More restricted, the ventilation of the pants is limited to openings on the thighs.
The whole back opens for ventilation
A blow of fresh? The thermal liners are there for this purpose. That of the jacket, typical urban vest, can be worn completely separately. Convenient for the evening. Ecological: the padding is made with 50% recycled fibers from PET bottles; each jacket allows the recycling of 5 bottles…. A great argument for traveling in nature. Too bad, the lightweight thermal liner of the pants is optional.
T.UR P-one pants
Let’s move on to storage; there too, it is the festival. Two large external pockets, one waterproof and the other quick access by a unique magnetic closure! One pocket under the chest flap, two inside. It just lacks a CB pocket for payment at the toll…. But T.UR offers a new accessorization: behind the pocket for the back protector is a space for the water bag and the mouthpiece passes laterally internally to come out through the left front ventilation. Well seen ! Finally the game pocket houses the rain jacket. The P-One offers two classic pockets, but also a waterproof one on the right leg a space on the left leg to accommodate waterproof protection. These incorporate HYDROSCUD in-house technology, Tucano Urbano’s exclusive patented system, to ensure 100% waterproofing and breathability..

Latest innovation, the set benefits from multiple protections (knees, shoulders, arms, optional back protector…) in specific and exclusive openwork D3O. These increase ventilation by 45%. A real plus in terms of comfort associated with optimal protection.
Test
Italian clothes are fitted. Understand that they cut small. My usual L / 52 goes to 2XL / 56 (1m84, 75 kilos). To see and check well according to your size during a fitting, mandatory. For a more intense enduro, we can remove the protections and wear without any discomfort a full off-road vest underneath. Not all Cross or big enduro type boots will fit through the lower legs of the P-One. For everyone else, it’s comfort. AND especially the pants stay in place without going up over the boots. A characteristic to be credited to the ease component at this level.
Better to see bigger for size choice
With so many ergonomic advantages, the T.UR set is most comfortable to wear. Light, flexible, remarkably cut, it is easy to forget and gives the handlebars a lot of ease.
The T.Ur set is quite flexible and does not hamper movement
In hot weather or in the effort of any terrain, we appreciate the great ventilation provided by the open back flap. Easily accessible when driving, the front openings contribute to the pleasure, but we would have liked larger net spaces. In the area of the biceps, the tightening reduces ventilation, but that of the wrists is very pleasant. Another good point is that the open collar flap when crocheted opposite prevents flapping in the wind. The thermal regulation associated with the good breathability of the lining provides great comfort. We can thus face more than 30 ° without suffering.
Testing of the T.UR J-One and P-one set in mud
Waterproof, breathable, the T.UR set also provides excellent wind protection up to 10 degrees. Below, it will take out the internal liners. We can then face mountain passes or harsh winters. Is the weather cloudy? No worries, unlike many others, rain covers are always close at hand, on you. To the Tucano standard, they ensure total and lasting impermeability even under heavy rains. And brings you extra heat. Also useful in the off-season so as not to be bothered by thermal elements.
The set offers good protection against rain and wind
Another quality of transalpine textile "adventouring", the accessibility of the pockets, their number, the quality of the Japanese YKK zippers and the adjustments make the set efficient and comfortable in all seasons. The comfort provided by the inserts and the overall cut is most pleasant.
Pockets are easily accessible
A downside, the light color will get dirty all the same quickly when the branches leave the mark, tenacious, of their friction. The set is machine washable at low temperature, without risk to the leather intended for this use. Tested and approved.

Conclusion
Super stylish, remarkably cut and finished, the ToUR J-One and P-One set is also efficient in action. Versatile, the equipment guarantees you use in all seasons and in all conditions. Its durability should be of the best in view of the materials used and the technical quality of Tucano clothing. We just regret that the thermal liner of the pants is optional, as well as the back protector.
Priced at 499 € for the jacket and 249 € for the pants, the T.Ur combo is an item to try to convince yourself of all its interest. Technical and comfortable, it brings that inimitable Italian touch with a special look.
