Representative of “Louder is better”-Parliamentary group can click on right away; this is about giving Harleys a rich, yet legal sound. for “Fed up” are Vance & Hines exhaust systems are a well-known option – but there is often a lack of legality.

The Fanatics Motorcycle Company, in short: FMC and its Germany importer FMC store in Montabaur (Rhineland-Palatinate), which is about 100 km from Frankfurt / Main (Hesse) and Cologne (North Rhine-Westphalia), take care of that.

FMC has been equipping exhaust systems for several years Vance & Hines and other manufacturers with the so-called Thor system, so that the motorcycles in question can legally be operated with EG-ABE. Also owners of older Vance & Hines systems can benefit from this conversion option.

FMC also supplies Harley-Davidson authorized dealers in Germany and Austria with its retrofit system. The prices for Thor system complete systems start at 1099 euros, retrofitting of systems is possible from 485 euros.

FMC is continuously expanding the range of convertible systems. It is currently planned to expand the license to Indian and Victory motorcycles as well as to Japanese chopper / cruiser models.

The Thor technique

Sketch: FMC

The Thor system is a through damper system.

The Thor system comes from FMC in the USA and is a static through damper system, i.e. it works without adjustable flaps and without interfering with the vehicle’s control electronics. Its main components are sieve pipes, stainless steel wool, metal catalysts, connection pieces and reducing orifices with a through pipe.

Depending on the engine version and exhaust type, the components are put together to form a slide-in system, built into the exhaust and anchored with a cover plate. Nothing changes in the appearance of the exhaust system, the system works in secret.

High-flow metal catalysts with 200 to 460 cells are used for exhaust gas cleaning. According to FMC, their capacity is twice that of the Harley-Davidson series cats. They should receive the necessary dynamic pressure and at least reach, if not even exceed, the exhaust gas values โ€‹โ€‹of the series system.

The Thor system will essentially be Vance & Hines exhaust systems on injection sports star and on Harley-Davidson Equipped with twin cam engines. This includes all current Dyna, Softail and Tourer models. The conversion of carburetor models is possible in principle, but requires the carburetor to be retuned.
