In 2010, Erwan "Usain Bolt" Nigon and Sebastien "Wheelie" Gimbert literally crushed the competition: the scores of the two official BMW drivers flirted with 300 points (respectively 296 and 284) at the end of the seven rounds of the French championship Superbike, against a little less than 200 for their closest rivals !
On the podium from the opening rounds at Ledenon, the S1000RR n ° 1 and n ° 7 took turns on the highest step during the following twelve races, thus confirming the health of the Munich 4-cylinder, the homogeneity of its cycle part and the excellent behavior of its Michelin tires !
On the Magny-Cours circuit, Seb ‘and Erwan even achieved better times than their counterparts at the Mondial SBK with their Superbikes and Pirelli tires (for the record, the pole of the French event signed by Gimbert was 1’36.705 while that of Crutchlow and his R1 was 1’37.699).
Something to give hope to a certain Leon Haslam, who will race on the S1000RR next year in the World Superbike! In France, BMW will do everything to keep its crown despite the arrival of a particularly sharp Aprilia "aPRC" and a ZX-10R Ninja which preferred to postpone its launch date … to better win?
