First visit to the French Superbike Championship in Ledenon

FSBK - First visit to the French Superbike Championship in Ledenon -

The second round of the French Superbike Championship was held this weekend in Ledenon. And again, the weather came to scramble the cards during the tests while the finals took place under a bright sun. Report.

While the World Superbike riders were playing fairing in Valence (read), our riders registered for the French Superbike Championship were playing their second event at Ledenon (30).

After having driven in variable conditions during the tests, the French pilots experienced Sunday an almost summer weather allowing them to make the best use of their machines … and thus offering a beautiful spectacle !

125

The 125 category benefited this weekend from the presence of a distinguished guest: Alexis Masbou himself, entered in the 125 Grand Prix within the FFM Honda team! But his equipment being already shipped to Turkey for the next GP, Alexis was racing this weekend on the handlebars of a standard RS125.

During practice, after a domination by Clement Dunikowski of the French Espoir Speed Team on a wet track in the morning, Alexis Michel took the pole in the afternoon, just ahead of Masbou, Maitre, Debise and Dunikowski.

The next day, Valentin Debise suffered a bad fall during the warm-up: the doctor detected a head trauma and forbade him to take the start … !

The race took place under the sun: Alexis Masbou got off to a good start ahead of Alexis Michel. But in the 7th lap, trying to remove a strip of tape from the radiator in order to lower the temperature of his engine, Masbou unknowingly activates the ignition switch and gives up, not detecting where the mysterious failure comes from …

Desirous "significantly increase our lead in the championship", Alexis Michel – who was then 6 seconds behind the Honda rider – sees the red carpet unfold in front of him: all the rider has to do is offer his victory to his mother, whose birthday is the same day !

Romain Maitre finished second in front of Louis Rossi – victim of a rear shock absorber which "played tricks again"- while the reigning French champion, Clement Dunikowski,"ends up alone and in trouble"in 4th place.

Over the first two rounds, Alexis Michel and his Aprilia dominated the provisional classification ahead of a horde of Honda led by Rossi and Maitre. Alongside the championship, the Challenge de l’Avenir sees Louis Rossi leading ahead of Randy Pagaud and Valentin Debise.

Pirelli Junior Trophy

Taking advantage of constantly improving track conditions, the trophy riders had a good fight in practice and it was finally Nicolas Pouhair and his CBR600RR who took pole ahead of Matthieu Lussania (R6) and Louis Bulle (CBR), our pilot of the Dark Dog Academy. His teammate Guillaume Marcolini is ranked 6th and Baptiste Guittet (ZX-6R) – author of the pole at Le Mans – is this time 9th.

Pouhair started out ahead of Lussania and Bulle but on the 8th lap, Matthieu Lussania took control of the race and never left them until the checkered flag. Behind the two leading men, Alex Maurin (ZX-6R) and Louis Bulle are engaged in a great battle.

Matthieu Lussania manages the lead he has accumulated over the laps and wins ahead of Nicolas Pouhair and Axel Maurin. Louis Bulle finished half a second from the podium, far ahead of Etienne Masson (CBR), Baptiste Guittet and Stephane Egea (GSX-R).

Lussania therefore takes the lead in the provisional classification, Pouhair 2nd place and Axel Maurin 3rd. Party to play the European Superstock round in Valence, Sylvain Barrier’s counter remains stuck at 25 points.

600 Supersport

Triumph and its Daytona 675 strike a blow by winning thanks to Kenny Foray the second race of the year! Best time in practice, Kenny sets the third fastest time in the superpole behind David Perret (ZX-6R) and the stage local, Cyril Bouffier (also Ninja). Arnaud Vincent (R6) completes the first row.

David Perret took the best start but could not resist Kenny Foray for long, who ran away alone in the lead. Arnaud Vincent and David Perret are more difficult to get rid of their pursuers Mathieu Andrieu, Gregory Lefort, Cyril Bouffier and the "big brother" Jehan d’Orgeix.

After a good fight of several laps, Arnaud Vincent takes advantage of an overtaking of latecomers to move away from David Perret, who sees Gregory Lefort come back on him! In the end, Kenny Foray passes the checkered flag with more than 6 seconds ahead of Arnaud Vincent, 9 over Perret and Lefort and 12 over Andrieu and Bouffier.

Note the disappointment of Yann Lussania who destroyed his R6 during the warm-up and could not start the race because of a mechanical problem on his mule … Bertrand Stey was also obliged to attend as a simple spectator at the 600cc race, not finding the parts needed to troubleshoot his CBR.

In the championship, Arnaud Vincent (46 points) and Kenny Foray (41) widen the gap on Gregory Lefort (23) and Matthieu Lagrive (20), absent to compete in the World Supersport.

1000 Superbike

If Olivier Four (R1) sets the best time in qualifying, it is Patrick Piot (R1) who signs the superpole in 1’24.282. Olivier follows him closely, followed a little further by Thomas Metro (1098), Denis Bouan (R1) and Freddy Foray (GSX-R).

Denis Bouan made the first lap in the lead but he was quickly overtaken by Olivier Four while Patrick Piot and Thomas Metro marked each other very closely throughout the race. Freddy Foray, off to a good start, loses ground on the leading men because of a motorcycle which "start to move"…

But the tension among some riders during the race is at its height, because they must at all costs avoid any boredom that could prevent them from participating in the 24 Heures Moto next weekend (read our) !

So after the race, Olivier Four confides to Christophe Guyot, the boss of GMT94, that he is "not quite satisfied because it was possible to go even faster, but the desire to do well and not make mistakes before the 24 Hours of Le Mans invited me to remain cautious" !

For his part, Patrick Piot felt that "Olivier Four was not faster, but more consistent"and consoles himself by beating Thomas Metro.

They are followed by Freddy Foray who beats Denis Bouan. Gwen Giabbani classifies his Kawa 6th and Guillaume Dietrich his Suz 7th. In the fight with these two men until the halfway point, David Muscat retired due to a technical problem with his Ducati..

The driver of the Dark Dog Academy Lucas de Carolis is no better: started from 13th place then battling for 18th position, he must also retire.

Four takes the lead in the French Superbike Championship and leads in front of Dietrich, Piot, Giabbani and Foray..
