Five great weekend tours
Short but intense

Driving again at last. Feel that man and machine are alive. Because there is a huge lack of time these days, here are five recommendations for two to three days of high-intensity motorcycle enjoyment. These five routes are awesome.

Markus Biebricher

We admit: The five short trips are completely subjective. One could justifiably recommend 50 others in Germany. But these have especially sneaked into our hearts. Always cause indulgence goose bumps. And we want to share that with you. So that you can experience maximum driving pleasure in your precious time.

It is less about following our route recommendations meticulously. All you have to do is go to these five regions and discover them. They will also reveal their charms when you find your own way. And we are sorry that northern Germany is not considered. Certainly there are passable motorcycle routes there too. But let’s not fool ourselves: the kick only occurs when curve after curve is lined up, it goes up and down, you can enjoy the view. The topography of Germany has developed unfairly.

And now go, let yourself be inspired!

1. Tour: Tegernsee / Berchtesgaden

Insane panoramas: Watzmanngruppe and Hochkalter.

Alpine dream routes

Rock ‘n’ roll on dynamic winding roads in a postcard-idyllic nature. Who doesn’t want to experience that? So into the Bavarian Alps. There is no more intense driving experience.

Admittedly, this circuit is not completely “German”, but also runs through the Tyrolean Alps. No disadvantage, because the 390 kilometer loop means dynamic curve scratching in a brilliant landscape. And that means truly unearthly panoramas. Shooing the bike through the curves here ensures a particularly intense release of happiness hormones. Because we are in the Alps.

From the Tegernsee it goes to Tyrol, then to the highlight Rossfeldstrasse and over parts of the German Alpine Road back to the Tegernsee. Good road surfaces, good grip and lots of fun while driving spice up this tour. If you want, you can build an easy ten-kilometer gravel section in the Achental – Steinberg – Brandenberg – Kramsach section. As I said: You can’t get more motorcycling in a weekend.

2nd tour: Black Forest

Roller coaster ride intense.

Touring stronghold

The Black Forest is the largest and highest low mountain range in the republic. An unbelievable range of curves and every conceivable incline experience spice up our round.

Mountains like Schauinsland or Belchen, the Titisee, the Schluchsee and the narrow, winding, angular streets of the southern Black Forest have a magnetic effect on motorcyclists and ensure unforgettable weekend or short tours. The Hotzenwald is a real tip for those who like to explore. Its winding valleys are so numerous that one weekend is not enough for all worthwhile routes. That means you come back to this cornering paradise.

You have to literally “experience” how the delightful rocky gorges slope down to the south towards the Rhine Valley. To speak of the ultimate driving and nature experience is no exaggeration. Just as little as the claim that such enchanted steep roads cannot be found anywhere else in Germany. Try it.

3rd tour: Eifel

Standing on an old volcano: Olbruck Castle near Niederzissen. Driving fun is endless everywhere.

Burning plaster

The last volcanic eruption in Germany happened in the Eifel. A tour along the Vulkanstrabe through the curves around the Nurburgring increases tire temperature and pulse rate.

Lava is still being extracted in the quarries of the Eifel, which is then used as hard basalt for houses and paving. The Eifel landscape inspires with its rough charm, the streets with seductive curves – the fact that they sometimes run straight is the big exception. A lap on the famous Nurburgring-Nordschleife (or even a training session) is one of the unforgettable motorcycle experiences in the Eifel.

Just like a break on the maars or in the famous biker cafes. Then continue on hidden mini-streets with no traffic. Geologists expect new volcanic eruptions. Whether in a few years or millennia, they don’t know. So until the next eruption in these winding hills, ride as much motorcycling as possible.

4th tour: Northern Hesse

Clear your head: a look at Volkmarsen-Kulte.

Tuscany north

It’s not just any streets up there in Northern Hesse. Rather tingling rows of asphalt meters. Each one a pearl on the chain of possible driving pleasure. Plan on!

The best way to understand the almost Tuscan-looking hilly landscape and the forests of the Waldecker Land is on a motorcycle. If you break them down into speeds and gear changes, if you experience how the spring elements work on the small, traffic-free streets. Like the endorphins patter in the curves from Leckringhausen to Ippinghausen or in the sensational asphalt worm between Vohl and Herzhausen. The motorcycle takes you everywhere.

Here the crackling silence and the earthy aroma of the forest floor, there the baroque castle of Bad Arolsen or the fjord landscape of the Twiste or Edersee. If you throw yourself into the landscape towards Diemelsee, through Flechtdorf, Adorf, Heringhausen, Willingen, Usseln, Oberschledorn and Goldhausen, you will feel like a surfer in Hawaii. The same applies to the route Dorfitter – Immighausen – Rhadern – Dalwigksthal or the route via Altenlotheim, Frankenau and Bad Wildungen. Enjoy these exquisite streets!

5th tour: Saxon Vogtland

Bikererldorado Vogtland: You can’t quite get away from these curves.

Curve paradise in the east

Insider tip Saxon Vogtland: slopes without end, little traffic, green hills, clear lakes, adventurous GDR stories and upright people. Lets go!

Mountains, curves and small streets without end. You find yourself cheering under your helmet and turning out of gear. Everything here feels somehow original, maybe similar to the first exit at the age of 18. The driving pleasure grows infinitely. No matter where you are in the Saxon Vogtland, it goes up and down and constantly sharp around the corner. For this reason, even in the capital Plauen, motorcycling is more fun than in other cities.

From Bad Elster to Landwust, from Markneukirchen to Klingenthal, winding streets lead through the so-called music corner of the Vogtland, where orchestral instruments are still being built today and there is much else to see. Stop or not? Difficult decision because the slopes are addicting here. The Aschberg driveway, for example. You could mill up ten times. No, not because of the brilliant view. But at some point you should stop and enjoy the stories of the people. You can never get away from the curves in Vogtland anyway.
