There was a time when the Sportster 883 wanted to sink into gloomy and disturbing depths, populated by ink souls, where the black sun burns the skin of Bikers steeped in dreams and history. A few models from Milwaukee created the clan; they are called Night Rod, Cross Bones, Night Train, Nighster … At present, only this Iron, the Street Bob and the Fat Bob brandish this black torch.

How do you turn the most accessible model in the Harley line-up into the bad boy with a character steeped in steel? Simple. All you have to do is cover it entirely with black paint, add protective gussets, add a single-seater saddle and Black Drag style handlebars, and clearly show the 2 short superimposed exhausts. In short, not really a novelty; rather an additional color (Black Denim) to be able to extend the Dark Custom range. But over the years, the Iron has taken its ease and now wants sparkling, color, and the colors feel more and more rebellious..

2014 brought the Sportster lineup with improved ABS and braking, with a 300mm front disc, new calipers and a new master cylinder. The Iron 883 is the only one to offer anti-lock as an option. On the chassis and engine side, there are no technical changes to report on the Sportster Iron to differentiate it from a classic 883. The 45 ° twin outputs 53 hp, conveyed by a belt to the 16-inch rear wheel. The beautiful and menacing 19-piece front rim accommodates a single brake disc. The Iron doesn’t care about the superfluous, looking for the stripped down, deep, wicked side … more at ease in the courtyard of miracles than at the diners at Balthazar Plinhozass.
