Euro 5 and chassis upgrade

The motorcycle manufacturer Honda has trimmed the mid-range athlete to Euro 5 and also granted it a small chassis upgrade. There are also new features.

A.Similar to the unclad sister model Honda CB 650 R, the fully clad Honda CBR 650 R will also receive a new fork for the 2021 model year. The front wheel guidance is now taken over by a 41 mm Showa Big Piston USD fork. The separation of suspension and damping – both are housed in a fork leg – ensure better damping performance and reduce weight.

In order to trim the 649 cm³ in-line four-cylinder to Euro 5, the engine management system was re-tuned, camshafts and intake timing were adjusted, and there was an update for the exhaust and catalytic converter. These measures have no effect on the performance of the four-cylinder. It remains at 95 hp and a maximum of 63 Nm torque. The A2 variant with 48 hp will also remain on offer unchanged.

Small optical updates

The 2021 vintage of the CBR 650 R is visually recognizable with its newly shaped side panel covers, a new rear splash guard with license plate holder and revised headlight reflectors. If you want to charge your mobile device, you will now find a USB charging socket under the bench. The facelift is rounded off with an adapted LED angle and larger fonts in the cockpit display.

The Honda CBR 650 R will roll out to dealers in the 2021 model year in the colors Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic and Candy Chromosphere Red. Honda has not yet announced prices.
