The updated software has been available for the Gold Wing models from model years 2018 and 2019 since January. US customers can get them on the Honda website download it and then install it on the motorcycle. Gold Wing owners in Germany can get the latest software version from their dealer. You can have it installed there directly, or you can have it installed on a USB stick and install it yourself.

US customers need a USB stick of at least 16 GB (at least 2.0), a computer with a powerful Internet connection and around an hour’s time to download.

Gold Wing owners can read the current software status via the on-board menu. The audio settings are selected on the start screen, then the general settings and, in the next step, the system information. The currently installed software version should be found here. The most recent version available is HG.ACM.18.11.29.08.16.00.

The new software can be uploaded via the Gold Wing’s on-board interface. On models with an airbag, this is located in the case system; on models without an airbag, it is in the storage compartment of the dummy fuel tank.

With the software update, route planning can now include up to 99 waypoints. The voice control should also be reconnected after the ignition has been switched off, and POIs are also retained after an interruption in the ignition current. In addition, preselected light settings should be retained. The integration of iPhoneX smartphones is said to have been improved. The update also provides optimized XM radio reception for US models.
