For the spring of 2010, Honda brings the completely newly developed sports tourer motorcycle VFR 1200 F with a 172 hp V4 engine, cardan drive and double-layered cladding on the market.

The new two-wheeler is riding only in front of innovative high-tech. This starts already in the panel, which is built on top of each other in two layers and thereby redirect the air streams to accurate: the sewered air is used for vehicle stabilization at higher speeds, a better engine cooling effect and optimizes the exhaust air. This signals the redesigned front part with so-called X-Face headlight, in which the lines cross X-shaped and flank the headlights of two lateral LED strips.

Bully characteristics

The heart of the completely newly developed sports tour is a liquid-cooled V4 engine with 1237 CCM displacement, the sovereign 129 Nm torque and 126 kW / 172 hp rich power available. The Honda development engineers emphasize the passage force over an unusually wide speed band. For the V4, the responsible persons have drawn all the registers, starting with a special layout. In the VFF, gas is electronically controlled – instead of conventional throttle actuation, a Throttle-by-WIRE system controls PGM-Fi fuel injection with the desired commands. Sporty downshift in the six-speed gearbox makes an antihopping clutch according to the same principle as possible as with the super-sporting CBR 1000 RR Firblade.
As power transmission to the rear wheel, a cardan drive is used for the first time in the VFR history. Numerous constructive tricks should reduce load change reactions to a minimum and preserve the sporting approach. Honda on the VFR 1200 F on a proven cast aluminum bridge frame, the front wheel is guided by an upside-down telegraph, a shapely and stylistly sporty hatched insertion is used, in which the cardan shaft is running. Also from the sports sector, the tire dimensions come with 120/70 Zr 17 front and a wide 190/55 ZR 17 format rear.

Three years warranty

    I was allowed to test the 1200s yesterday. Your article says what’s in the bike. … Force in every course at almost every speed (also with a seat), good suspension tuning and better cornering than with my 2005 VFR! Negative noticed is the annoying grossing of the end pot, the striking design (I do not like it so well) and the high purchasing price!

    I am very convinced of the whole bike, only a test drive is missing. If the test drive was completed successfully and there is not too many disadvantages over my previous Fireblade 1000RR SC59, I will exchange them against the new VFR 1200F.     I am confessing BMW driver. We are always hacked around for us (because of our oh so ugly mopeds). Honda shoots the bird here, when I look at myself only the exhaust will be sick. And from the front, this crawl looks as if someone with the thumbs has compressed the cladding. Guaranteed comes from the designer of this machine from Mars….

    Unfortunately, as a longtime and confessed Hondafahrer, I have to agree on late brakes. The tail and especially the exhaust are really a grip to the bathroom – but otherwise the bike is absolutely top.
