2015 Honda CRF 450 R

Menus

With the CRF 450 R 2015, Honda is offering its customers the opportunity to increase the chances of getting on the podium! This vintage marks significant changes for the engine: increased performance thanks to a redesigned cylinder head and its new exhaust line, but also and above all the appearance of the handlebar control offering the choice between three injection maps.. Amateur, expert or professional rider, you will be able to get the best out of this machine, whatever the driving conditions..

Setting: a subtle balance

The CRF 450 R retains its 6th generation aluminum double beam frame. Lightweight but durable, it promotes mass centralization and lowers the center of gravity, which reduces the motorcycle’s inertia: thus, it turns more easily on the ground and in the air. This new structure also has different rigidity depending on the zone in order to improve the pilot’s sensations, in particular when landing jumps. Finally, the geometry of the chassis enhances the liveliness and traction in bends..

Suspensions: efficiency and return of sensations

Already very efficient in terms of grip and liveliness in hairpin bends, the PSF2 KAYABA oil-pneumatic fork from ø 48mm progresses further, especially during the transition from compression to rebound. Benefits: 10% less friction, therefore more efficient suspension and better feedback.

At the rear, the compact, fully adjustable Kayaba shock melds with a Pro-Link system and aluminum swingarm. It contributes to the lowering of the machine’s center of gravity and ensures an optimal connection with the rear axle.

Braking is more efficient thanks to the front disc widened to 260 mm, supplemented at the rear by a 240 mm disc.

Engine: à la carte mapping !

A redesigned cylinder head, new ducts and a redesigned exhaust line: thanks to this recipe, the 2015 version of the 449 cm3 4-stroke single-cylinder powered by PGM-FI injection gains in power and torque.
Better still: by adopting a new configurable map management system (EMSB – Engine Mode Select Button), the engine instantly becomes more usable. With a simple push on the handlebar control, you can now choose the sound card “behavior” among three modes, depending on the driving conditions – a huge “plus” for the amateur rider.

Three mapping modes:

– Mode 1 uses standard ignition and injection curves to provide balanced horsepower and torque characteristics.
– Mode 2 is suitable for low grip conditions (mud for example) and favors throttle control to make the most of the available traction..
– Mode 3 delivers more explosive power and makes it easier to get out of soft, deep sand.

You can even fine-tune Modes 2 and 3 using the tuning system developed by the HRC.

Covering: at the service of ergonomics

An ergonomic model, the casing of the CRF 450 R applies the principle of “triangular proportions”. Concrete translation: the radiator scoops, side covers, saddle and tank all feature soft shapes that maximize your freedom of movement. In addition, the thin and flat saddle makes it easy to move forward.
The new colors combine white and red, a hallmark of competition CRFs and Honda’s for a long time..
