Honda GL 1800 GOLDWING F6B 40th anniversary 2015

Menus

The Bagger seen by Honda is called F6B. Or more poetically, a Goldwing convertible (a beautiful metaphor for a colleague) offering an opulence bordering on prestige, with a company organ a flat 6 that we no longer present.
With this special series, the F6B celebrates 40 years of career and nobility of the most famous GT. The equipment takes the opportunity to enrich itself in addition to special commemorative coins.

Something important was missing from the F6B, especially since the machine is a sacred mass to move: reverse gear. The latter is now part of the standard equipment. A small electric motor, which can be operated via a button on the right stalk, assists you during reversing phases. Another note, Honda also provides cruise control. Given the vocation of the machine and its price, this element could have been installed in series as soon as the F6B was marketed….
To mark the occasion, we find on this machine a series of “40th anniversary” badges. The chosen color, taciturn at will, lack of gaiety for this occasion; It seems that it offers a subtle and relaxed presence.

Genesis :

Mi-Goldwing mi-custom … Is it possible!?! What preparer would dare to try such a challenge? Can we only consider stripping the Japanese golden bird, when its raison d’être is precisely the excess and the culmination of Great Motorcycle Tourism? ?
It’s possible, it’s called the F6B, and Honda made it.

Crazy ! But not only. The biggest Japanese manufacturer does not venture off the beaten track without a good reason. Here, it is the American market which speaks, and a tendency more and more marked for the baggers; you know, that mix of GT and custom, where the road can only be conceived with a pair of valos, a windshield and style. The F6B is the same principle: a stripped-down Goldwing which retains only the essentials, namely a piece of nose screen at the top of the fork crown and a set of suitcases. Bye bye the large windshield, the top-case, the passenger chair and footboards, the senatorial seat, the heated saddle, the automatic blinker reminder, as well as the optional GPS and airbag. This makes it less bazaar, sanctioned by a drop in weight of 28 kilos and price of around 6,000 euros.
More slender, almost aerial, this Goldwing light has a new saddle, footrests and specific grab handles for the passenger, the side panels with the new design, and retains its audio installation compatible with USB, iPod, MP3, etc..

The F6B stands out clearly from all the other baggers: in addition to its affiliation with the most majestic of the GTs, it is also the only one equipped with a 6-cylinder. A velvety, inimitable suppleness and availability, perfect for lifting with enchantment the 384 kilos. Its 118 horses are not exceptional (the BMW 6 in line 1600 comes out 160) but its roundness and its approval are of a pedigree of majesty. The F6B will offer a behavior very close to the Goldwing because the engine as the chassis have not undergone any modification. The super-bagger can take advantage of leading technical equipment, with its aluminum perimeter frame, its 45 mm fork with anti-dive system, its single-sided arm, pro-link type shock absorber, ABS braking combined with 2x 296mm front discs, 316mm rear disc and 3 piston calipers.
