Honda VARADERO XL 1000 V 2001

Who would have bet such a success for the Varadero? At its presentation, this huge trail has fueled many controversies. A particular design, a weight not really contained, a high-pitched saddle and a price in the same vein; not won in advance for the beast. In addition, this particular roader encroached on the beds of the benchmark of the segment: the BMW R 1150 GS. But in use, the Honda thrilled everyone. In addition to the high level of comfort, the main strength of the machine is its bubbling engine. Nothing less than the excellent V-twin of the VTR 1000 to propel the happy crew. Revised to offer more torque, the twin cylinder exudes health and does not lack personality.

With such a mill, the Varadero and its comfortable suspensions, the Varadero flies on the road. Excellent protection, sitting at the top, delighted passenger, the Honda allows to align the kilometers at a sustained speed without worry … with the exception of consumption. The twin is greedy and the 5-speed gearbox does not help to calm its appetite. The large suspension travel provides a large part of the comfort but does not make the Honda a trajectory magician. This does not prevent it from being surprisingly manoeuvrable (for a machine of this ilk). CBS coupled braking is very reassuring, a system that will certainly equip all road models in the Honda range in the near future. Even if the bike remains a trail (well, especially in the spirit), do not count on it to make some pranks in off-road – its capacities are almost non-existent there. On the other hand, on bitumen tongues, the Varadero is a queen of the road.
