This XLV has ceased to venture into ruts and muddy roads for a long time. On the other hand, the machine is still a model of choice for the road. He was able to resist new adversaries such as Aprilia Caponord or Suzuki V-Strom…. The more experienced R 1200 GS keeps one step ahead; and behind, it starts to smell the scorch – Moto-Morini Gran Passo, Moto-guzzi Stelvio, Buell XB-12SX, and especially the KTM 990 Adventure have more than an appetite for the sector.
Honda therefore decided to review its copy. A few improvements everywhere will allow the Varadero to regain confidence in its qualities. The excellent V-twin from the late sporty VTR is still here, just reprogrammed somewhat to pass Euro 3 standards. As a result, a new exhaust fits between the redesigned rear side covers. These now include turn signals. Under the engine, the plastic shoe is finally released to make room for an aluminum element, stronger and more in the trail spirit. The Varadero receives a new more chic dashboard, a revised saddle for more comfort, lockable storage spaces, and a luggage kit. ABS is now in series.
