Hunter Sills BMW S 1000 RR

Fastest BMW in the world

A BMW S 1000 RR built by Hunter Sills Racing is probably the fastest BMW in the world. At Cook’s Top Oil Land Speed Shootout in Bolivia, she set the speed record in her class to 369 km / h.

D.he Hunter Sills Racing team has already broken several speed records. In July 2018, another record was set at Cook’s Top Oil Land Speed Shootout on the Bolivian salt lake in Uyuni.

Top speed at 381 km / h

In the class of partially cased machines with naturally aspirated engines up to 1,000 cm³ displacement, driver Erin Sills was able to set a new FIM record on her special BMW S 1000 RR with 369 km / h. The absolute top speed was even 381 km / h. The official record is determined from two trips in opposite directions.

Erin improved her husband’s record, which was 356 km / h in Bonneville, Utah in 2013. The record run was overshadowed, among other things, by various electronic problems and a major engine failure. In addition, the time window for the trips was shortened by the organizer from six to 2.5 days. The logistics for the material transport to Bolivia was also a challenge.
