JPMS - Motards des champs: we must continue to push! -

During a conference at the JPMS 2009, Charles Peot (Codever), Bruno Camozzi (Gas Gas) and Nicolas Rousselle (Kenny) analyzed the evolution of green leisure. Conclusion: for the survival of the category, we must not give up and continue to ride !

Despite the threats to green recreation in France (with the recent cancellation of the White Cruise), many paths can still be practiced legally by approved and registered all-terrain vehicles: this is in essence the message delivered by the motorized green leisure specialists present at the Professional Motorcycle and Scooter Days (JPMS). Ride youth !

Faced with traffic restrictions in natural areas (Olin circular) and the growing decrease in the organization of off-road events, endurance riders and leisure hikers are increasingly reluctant to put their pacifiers on dirt roads: the fear of the fine and the feeling of being "outside the law" immobilize a large number of practitioners. However "you have to ride, because to ride is to resist"exclaimed Charles Peot of Codever..

"In 2007, only 600 reports were drawn up on half a million "green" practitioners (all categories of motorized activities combined). The quota is therefore not that alarming and it is mainly the propaganda made around these verbalizations that dramatizes the situation.", reassures Charles Peot, estimating that the slowdown of the organizations of hikes, trials or enduros would be mainly due to this exaggeration.

In practice, during enduro rides or hikes, the biggest problem lies in the closure of certain paths. "Instead of resolving to do so, it is necessary to go in contact with elected officials to obtain possible agreements or discussions.", advocates Charles Peot.

Among the nuisances blamed on green motorcycles, noise is the most often cited. But manufacturers are making great efforts to reduce the noise level of machines and continue their research in this direction: Bruno Camozzi, Gas Gas importer, in particular called for joint work by all brands to carry out these studies as well as possible, "rather than fighting over who will produce the best performance".

As for Nicolas Rousselle (Kenny), he encourages dealers to organize outings with their customers, hikes and rides in order to retain them and to revive the desire to ride. In a nutshell: roll !
