Depending on requirements, such a Kawasaki could be on the road in the classic combustion mode, but also purely electrically (e.g. in city centers) and also combined – combustion + e-boost.

Kawasaki E-Boost protected brand name
New electric or hybrid motorcycle

Kawasaki has the name E-Boost protected. Most likely, the brand name is reserved for upcoming electric motorcycles and / or motorcycles with hybrid engines.

Some of Kawasaki’s latest patents cover electric and hybrid motorcycles. Patent applications for EV Endeavor electric motorcycle was already available in 2019, and the first prototype was then also at Eicma 2019: A motorcycle in the format of the Ninja 300/400 with a tubular space frame that can be opened to the side to exchange the battery unit.

Kawasaki E-Boost possibly hybrid motorcycle

One that surfaced in October 2020 Patent specification for a hybrid drive gave the speculation about a series e-motorcycle, however, a twist: Maybe it works Kawasaki Not an electrically powered motorcycle at all, but a hybrid motorcycle that can rely on a combination of an electric motor and a conventional combustion engine. The patent shows a conventional combustion motorcycle, which, however, is also equipped with an electric motor that is integrated into the transmission. Both the combustion engine and the electric motor can be latched into the drive train or even separated using their own coupling.

In his article on Kawasaki’s hybrid patent, colleague Uli Baumann already mentioned that the electric motor could be switched on as a booster at low speeds to support the combustion engine. And appropriately, Kawasaki now got the brand name in the first week of May 2021 “E-boost” protect.

Conclusion

When Kawasaki will introduce an electric or hybrid motorcycle – or possibly even both – we can only guess. But it is certain that there will be a great novelty. Registering a brand name is usually one of the last steps in the final development of a new model.
